Popular Taal notations in Hindustani Classical Music

Taal provides the rhythmic framework of a musical composition. It is a repeating pattern in time, and it’s duration is measured in terms of the number of beats (Matra).

Traditionally taal is played by the Tabla, Pakhawaj or the Mridanam. In Hindustani Classical music the most popular rhythm instrument is the Tabla.
